Lara is shown no mercy after being captured by a tribe of cannibals. Stripped of her clothing, she is held in place face-up on a platform. Two men presented a long barbed metal rod and placed it on top of her making clear she knew what it was.
She redoubled her squirming and begged them for mercy, but a female leader began guiding the sharp tip of the rod into her rectum. The impalement was done slowly and with care, clearly to prevent death and to maximize pain.
Lara experienced agony beyond imagining, and felt no relief when the tip of the rod finally exited her mouth. She was surprised she could still breathe as she inhaled deeply to continue screaming.
Suddenly, she felt an entirely new form of pain as the impalement rod was lifted from the platform, and Lara along with it. She bounced with each step as they carried her helplessly to a fire pit and suspended her in the flames. With the fire licking her back, she hung for several seconds. She panicked as her hair ignited and burned freely until it was gone. Lara knew her face was badly burned, but she felt a jolt inside her body as the mechanism began turning. At that moment, she forgot about her pretty face and remembered the barbs along the length of the metal rod. The barbs would grip along the inside of her body preventing her from slipping as the rod turned.
They had chosen not to drain her blood by cutting her throat. Obviously the tribe planned to enjoy the spectacle of her suffering, impaled alive, suspended in the flames. She was no longer screaming as her fear was gone. She felt only pain.
